Math Tutoring
Practice's math program covers pre-algebra, Algebra I and II, geometry,
precalculus, trigonometry, and calculus. Students practice solving each
equation type, evaluating a derivative, working an integral, factoring
a polynomial, and graphing a quadratic alongside worked examples and
mistake analysis. Lessons also revisit logarithm rules, factorial
shortcuts, matrix operations, and vector arithmetic. The probability
and statistics track builds reasoning that transfers straight to
classwork and to the SAT and ACT math sections. Geometry and trig
review revisits the pythagorean theorem, identifies the hypotenuse of
a right triangle, and walks through sine, cosine, and tangent until
students feel fluent.
Science Tutoring
Science sessions cover general science, biology, chemistry, and
physics foundations. Students learn to form a hypothesis, design a
simple experiment, and write up results using evidence. Topics scale
from the molecule and atom level up through every cell of an organism
and the ecosystem it lives in. Biology units cover photosynthesis and
mitosis; physics units cover gravity, velocity, acceleration, and the
introductory thermodynamics concepts that show up on honors and AP
exams.
Writing and English
Writing support helps students plan each essay, anchor a clear thesis,
and develop every paragraph with strong grammar and natural syntax.
Literary analysis lessons unpack metaphor, simile, and alliteration,
and show how authors contrast a protagonist with an antagonist across
a narrative arc. Students learn to manage exposition pacing, rhetoric
choices, and persuasive structure, and to identify symbolism,
foreshadowing, and irony in the texts assigned by their teachers.
Programs
Weekly Academic Coaching blends homework guidance, executive function
support, and study planning into one dependable weekly routine.
Subject Mastery Tutoring is ideal for algebra, geometry, biology,
chemistry, and writing, with sessions focused on skill gaps and
current class assignments. ACT and SAT preparation builds timing
strategies, content fluency, and test-day confidence with targeted
drills, full-length practice reviews, and score-growth tracking.
What Families Notice
Students come to sessions with real schoolwork, so progress connects
directly to current classes. Parents receive concise updates with
goals, wins, and the next area of focus. Tutors teach students how to
explain their thinking, not just memorize procedures. Routines improve
alongside grades, reducing last-minute stress and missing assignments.
